Bees, Butterflies, & Blooms: A Pollinator Paradise
Visit the Morris Arboretum & Gardens at the University of Pennsylvania to explore the world of pollinators in a new exhibition, Bees, Butterflies, & Blooms: A Pollinator Paradise. On exhibit from May 23 through Sept. 30, the exhibition will feature several events, including a special focus on Garden Railway: World Pollinators.
Additional features include a Hummingbird Hut, offering a close-up look at birds; various Pollinator Friday programs on June 6, July 11, and Aug. 1; and the Morris Pop-Up Meadows featuring giant pollinator-inspired art, which opens on June 28.
Chinese Lantern Festival
Witness Franklin Square illuminated during the Chinese Lantern Festival on Tuesday, June 20. Giant steel-framed and silk-wrapped illuminated creations will brighten up the square at night.
Philadelphians will encounter the familiar 200-foot-long dragon, new lantern displays, immersive experiences, live cultural performances, Asian-themed delights, American comfort food, a cocktail garden, and a choreographed fountain light show in the Rendell Family Fountain. Guests can also play Philly Mini Golf and ride the Parx Liberty Carousel at a discounted price.
Philadelphia Folk Festival
Enjoy live music, delicious food, activities for kids of all ages, and more at the Philadelphia Folk Festival at Old Pool Farm in Harleysville. The family-friendly festival began in 1961 and served as North America’s longest continuously running outdoor music festival before it paused in 2023.
The Philadelphia Folk Festival will run from Aug. 15 to 17. On Aug. 14, a special Thursday night concert will be offered for those camping at the festival site. Artists confirmed to appear include John Gorka, Solas, Max Davey, and Cloudbelly.
