Get ready, Philadelphia, an exciting adult-only night at the zoo is coming back this summer! The Philadelphia Zoo is hosting its second annual “Zoo Done It?” scavenger hunt and mystery adventure after hours on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This unique event, created in partnership with Without a Cue Productions, invites guests aged 21 and over to step into a thrilling whodunit set in 1874, the year before America’s first zoo opened its gates.
At the Philadelphia Zoo adult-only after-hours event, participants will explore the entire zoo property, following cryptic clues, solving puzzles, and interacting with actors portraying suspicious Victorian-era characters. The story unfolds around a mysterious murder among the zoo’s menagerie, creating a perfect blend of history, intrigue, and fun mystery-solving.
What’s at stake? The winner will score an extraordinary grand prize: an exclusive private tour of The Solitude, a historic 18th-century mansion on zoo grounds said to be haunted. Built in 1784 as a retreat for John Penn, William Penn’s grandson, The Solitude is a National Historic Landmark often featured in media for its ghostly tales, like lights mysteriously turning on and off in the attic.
Other prizes include two Flex Passes to the Red Rum Theatre and a behind-the-scenes zoo experience for up to six guests.
Tickets are priced at $50 for general admission (including zoo entry after hours and complimentary parking). For a full experience, the “Prime Suspects” bundle at $75 adds a complimentary drink (boozy or non-boozy), popcorn, and a special Zoo Key souvenir. Philadelphia Zoo members save $10 per ticket or bundle—just log in when purchasing on the official event page.
The fun begins promptly at 6 p.m. at the Zoo’s North Gate (35th and Girard Ave), with select concessions open for food and drinks. Plan to bring your ticket and a valid ID for entry.
As Vice President of Marketing, Patrick McMaster puts it, “This event is the perfect way for the 21+ crowd to experience the Zoo with a twist.” After last year’s success, this expanded edition promises even more mystery, more actors, and a more immersive adventure.
