Starting today, Memorial Day (5/26), Parks and Rec opens more than 70 Philadelphia spraygrounds for summer 2025, offering families free ways to cool off during the hot summer months. These include splash pads, spraygrounds, and misting areas within easy reach of many neighborhoods. Modern spray equipment now replaces the old wading pools at popular community spots like Seger Park and Herron Playground.
Spraygrounds start opening Memorial Day weekend, with nearly 60 locations operational first. All sites are scheduled to be fully open by Friday, May 30, and will remain open through Labor Day.

- Initial Activation Begins This Weekend (May 24–25)
Spray grounds with timers (nearly 60 locations at various sites) will be operating this weekend. - All Locations Operational by Friday, May 30
The remaining spray grounds and sprinklers will be activated next weekend, with full operation citywide beginning Friday, May 30. - Pre-Summer Hours (May 30 – June 15)
- Monday to Friday: 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- Weekend hours during this period may be limited or unavailable.
