A sweet adventure awaits across Pennsylvania as 51 creameries join forces for a statewide trail running until September 7. Visitors can win prizes while tasting fresh-made treats and meeting local dairy makers.
“Pennsylvania ice cream is the sweetest you’ll find anywhere,” said Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding to Lehigh Valley Live. “Meeting a farm family, seeing where they work their magic, and trying fresh-made local ice cream makes summer even sweeter when you know your purchases help support Pennsylvania farms and keep our economy thriving.”
“Scooped: An Ice Cream Trail” gives visitors a phone app to track stops. Six visits earn a metal tumbler. Ten visits put you in the running for a night at Rocky Acre Farm in Lancaster County.
From Erie to Philadelphia, stops dot the state map. Penn State’s Berkey Creamery serves scoops in State College. Manning Farm Dairy runs five spots near Scranton. In Harrisburg, Urban Churn welcomes guests at three sites. Fox Meadows fills cones at two Lancaster County shops.
The trail started in 2018 when three state groups joined forces: PA Preferred, the Tourism Office, and the Center for Dairy Excellence. Their goal? Link ice cream fans with local makers.
Want to join? Sign up online for a digital pass. Get 600 points, win a tumbler. Hit 1,000 points for a shot at the farm stay prize.
Small shops like Klein Farms Dairy mix with big names like The Lands at Hillside Farms. You’ll taste scoops from old-time dairy barns to new spots like Batch in Center Valley.
