Chickie’s & Pete’s is once again kicking off the summer in spectacular fashion. They have teamed up with the South Jersey Transportation Authority (SJTA) and the Atlantic City Expressway to cover tolls for travelers on Memorial Day weekend.

Free Toll Friday

The annual tradition, known as Free Toll Friday, will take place on May 23, 2025, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., during which Chickie’s & Pete’s will pay all tolls (both cash and EZ Pass) for drivers passing through the Eastbound Egg Harbor, New Jersey Toll Plaza exit.

Countdown Event

The celebration begins earlier in the day with a family-friendly countdown event from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Farley Service Plaza on the Atlantic City Expressway. Visitors can enjoy complimentary orders of Chickie’s & Pete’s famous Crabfries® alongside a lively outdoor car show and the launch of the 100 Days of Summer celebration.

The festivities will include 70+ organizations, vendors, artists, and exhibitors, such as Funny Farm Rescue Sanctuary, the New Jersey State Police K9 team, and Atlantic City International Airport Fire and Rescue Equipment, among others.

Summer of Shellfish

The toll-free event also marks the official start of Chickie’s & Pete’s Summer of Shellfish, a seasonal menu available at participating locations throughout the summer. Visitors passing through Hammonton on their way to the Jersey Shore can expect a celebration filled with food trucks, classic cars, handmade goods, and petting zoo fun.

Beyond the festivities, Chickie’s & Pete’s is partnering with The Patriot Fund, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting veterans as they transition back into civilian life. A portion of proceeds from Chickie’s “Patriot Punch” cocktail will be donated to the organization throughout Memorial Day weekend.

Guests can also visit Ron’s Gardens of Hammonton for fresh local produce, stop by the Farley Plaza’s 9/11 memorial, or check out a brass replica of the Battleship New Jersey. Travelers with pets can make use of a dedicated fenced-in pet walk area.
